ABOUT PAULINE DICKSON
I now live in Green Cove Springs Florida. but I was born in Detroit and raised in Holly Michigan. I came to Florida over 50 years ago, graduated from University of North Florida with a Bachelor Degree in art education. I taught art at S.B.Jennings Elementary School for 17 years, and 13 years at Lakeside Junior High, both in Orange Park Florida. I retired from teaching in May of 2005, however I do teach a small group of adults in my studio at my home. I have done a wide variety of consigned art work, including portraits, sculpture, still-life, and animals, as well as collage and mixed media. I am currently a member of The Art Association of St.Augustine, SOMMA of Jacksonville, and the Orange Park Art Guild. I love the embossed look some artists do with homemade paper, I love sculpture and the textural aspects of collage. I think all three, homemade paper, sculpture and collage have inspired me to do paper relief sculpture. I like the blend of light and shadow that paper sculpture reflects
Artist Statement
I have been creating paper relief sculpture for more than 15 years. Formally trained in Art Education, I credit my paper
sculpture perception to observation, experimentation, insight, and hard work. Although I now use color in my work,
I like the blend of light and shadow that “white on white” paper sculpture reflects.
I have won several awards for my paper sculpture. My work is sometimes hard to categorize, so I strive to add my own
special touch to each sculpture. Finally, I believe that paper sculpture has flexibility for endless ides and possibilities.
